Steven
Keeler has devoted his life to learning how to trust
the active guidance of Spirit or Life-force. He
has discovered that when we allow Spirit to be the source
of all our good, we are creating/allowing from the unlimited
resources of all-that-is. This flies in the face of our “world” values
which seem to be focused on lack and limited resources
for which we all have to compete.
In
his spiritual, educational and personal quest for growth,
Steven has studied with Buddhist Monks, Native American
Medicine People (Sioux, Maidu, and Athabascan), a traditional
Mexican Folk Healer (Curandero), Catholic Priests, and
shamans from other cultures. He is currently studying
with a Hawaiian Kupuna (elder).
Steven
Keeler is a licensed Marriage, Family, and Child Psychotherapist
with over 15 years of experience working
with families and children. He has served as social
worker/therapist for foster agencies, group homes,
and as a clinician
for a nationally recognized, full inclusion program
for severely
emotionally disturbed children. Steven developed successful
Domestic Violence Programs, and in-home counseling
programs.
His
successful private practice, A Better Life
through Therapy and Healing, specializes in anger resolution,
family issues, communication skills, men's issues,
drug and alcohol
problems, teens and children, parenting skills, grief
and loss, depression, personal growth, corporate
consultation,
and Energy Therapy.
His
experience also includes Medical Social Work, school
counseling (grades K-12), alcohol and drug
counseling,
teaching parenting classes, developing curricula
for college level psychology classes (Building
Character and Raising
Self-Esteem through Effective Communication).
He
has worked with a wide variety of cultures and diversity:
international corporate executives;
college students;
K-12 grade students, many with learning disabilities
or mental
health diagnoses; violent men; addicts and alcoholics;
battered women; rape victims; gang members; hospital
patients and staff; foster parents and children;
group home children
and staff; many county agencies and incarcerated
men and women.
For
the last 10 years, Steven has studied the work of Virginia
Satir, a pioneer in the world
of Psychotherapy,
and has
been recognized for his excellent work by Avanta,
Satir's international organization designed
to empower and
heal
people. He is one of 30 people in the world
to be invited and trained in the innovative Systemic
Brief
Therapy,
based on the work of Satir. He is currently
vice
president of
the Satir Institute for Human Potential.
Steven’s clients, as well as his own life, showed
him that people tend to use fear as their primary motivator.
This harmful and powerful guide can easily be replaced
by curiosity, empowerment and confidence in the amazingness
of our idea of spirit. To that end, he has developed a
very successful therapy "class" called Creating
More of What Makes Your Heart Sing. This class is offered
around the world, and is currently being re-designed to
be offered on-line.
Steven
currently offers classes, workshops, retreats, and
is writing 3 books: "The Wandering Mind
Needs to Know" (due
out 2007); "Proving God", and, lastly, a book
entitled "Were You Behind
the Door when God Handed Out the Brains?" A humorous and transformative work
for those in search of fulfillment and health.
You
will find Steven amazingly approachable, humorous and
deeply devoted to his work.
He blends laughter
and fun
with deep, transformative, experiential
processes.
Steven
lives on the Big Island of Hawaii, and when he's not
helping people manifest
their
life's dreams,
he can
be found swimming with the Dolphins
and Whales in Paradise and competing in his
winning
dirt-track race car.
